Doris,
I loved your story about when you were little. What a riot.it sounds like you had a lot of fun and a mom that loved to do fun things with you kids.
Isn't it beautiful out there right now? The leaves are gorgeous everywhere I go. I go for my 2 mile walk along a trail and admire the beautiful trees in their fall colors of orange, gold and crimson.
You can almost smell the apple pie..yummy..
have a good one-off to the church to sort/.tag for the upcoming christmas bazaar held in November.

Well, I wrote a nice long post, but when I clicked on the smile above, my entire post disappeared!

Pam, I don't decorated because we are virtually surrounded by orange in fall. We don't get little goblins visitors, but I keep some treats around just in case.

When I was little our neighbor gave us her daughter's old dance costumes. Many of them were like clothing from other countries/cultures. One Halloween my mother dressed-up in an Asian costume and I didn't recognize her.  She showed up at the front door with other parents and their kids wearing emerald green silk-like pajamas, an Asian shaped hat, and a mask. I didn't recognize my own mother! funny!

PS, everybody, where's Claudia?

Hi Doris,
Yup, you've got that right! I thought if we got started on decorations for the fall season etc. it could lead somewhere. How do you decorate?  (Inside/and or out)I have my fall things all around the house also and hung up cute little kitchen towels with a spider on one and a cute little pumpkin on the other.
Off to watch the new DVD Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. Be back later..

Hi everyone! I can see that I was the last post way back in August!!!
I was wondering how you guys decorate your yards for the Halloween season??
I put my two scarecrows (one large-one small) and have some pretty yellow mums in the yard too along with a few signs I put up such as This way to Haunted house, Apple Picking next right etc.
A few years ago when the HP craze was at its peak, I dressed up a scarecrow to look like Severus Snape!! HA HA-everyone loved it and some of the little kids were kind of afraid of him..(gee, I wonder why??)
Anyway, just wanted to pop in ans say Happy fall/Autumn and hope to hear from some of you soon. Have a nice one..Hope to hear about your decorating too..

Hi Vicki,
Glad you are enjoying the series of Twlight books. Yes, there are 4 in all. 1st-Twlight, 2nd New Moon 3rd, Eclipse, and finally the 4th Breaking Dawn. The last one is full of wonderful surprises and know you will love it. Talk about HP bad guys and battle scenes. WOW-dont want to spoil it, but wait until you meet the creepy Italian Vampires called the Volturi's...I finished the last book and was satsified with the ending too. The author can probably continue on where this leaves off, but cant say why in this post as it will spoil it for you and whomever else may reading them!!! All I can say is enjoy--have a good weekend and keep on reading. . Pam

Hi, Pam!  I went to the bookstore last Friday and bought Twilight.  I started reading that evening and COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN!  I finished it on Sunday.  Wow, Wow...and WOW!  I am really looking forward to the movie in December!  Check out this site for the film.  The trailers are awesome and many of the scenes are just as I pictured them in my head.

Thank you so much for recommending this series!!  I agree with you about a young AR being perfect for Edward....but alas we can only dream about that.  Since I knew Robert Pattison (Cedric Diggory from HPGoF) was already cast in the lead, that is who I tried to picture while reading the book.  I'm anxious to buy book 2 but I'm waiting for the weekend.  I know if I don't, I'll never get any of my work done!

Did you say that there are 4 books in the series?  Have you finished the 4th one yet?  Oh, can't wait for Friday to get here!  Thanks again!!!!!!!

Hi Vicki,
Did you get a chance to start the twilight series??? I'm not going to spoil it, but keep on reading-the 4th and I believe final of the series is way beyond belief. All I can say is Vampires, Werewolves, Rosemary's baby!!! WOW..keep reading..I am halfway through and not sure which of the two strong male characters I am rooting for!! HA HA-Edward is her love, but Jacob is Sooo nice too..If Alan were younger as I have stated before, this would be a good movie for him (no pun intended) to sink his teeth into..have fun reading everyone and let me know what you think.off to read again-Pam

Hi all,
Hope everyone had a great summer. It's almost time for back to school and to get things on a schedule again! (sigh) no more late nights sitting at the computer until the weekend!!!
Has anyone out there except for me well past their teenage years, read the new series Twilight? I thought it was strictly for teens but wow, was I ever wrong. These books are by Stephanie Meyer and includes, Twilight (Book 1) New moon (2) Eclipse (3) and the new one I believe its breaking Dawn or something like that. I am only on the second one.
Not to give anything away, but its about a girl named Bella that has a strong attraction to the family that sits across from her lunch table in school and especially one guy named Edward. (if alan were that age he could have the part).People think they are odd, etc. and (Forks) so that is rare as its usually rainy/cloudy according to the book.
Not since Barnabas Collins have I been so mesmerized by a book of this nature. I can see why everyone was waiting for the newest release.
Apparently the movie was scheduled for December, but with HPHBP being postponed until July 2009, it will be shown in November. Check out the Twilight site to see more and view the trailer. It really looks good. I dont want to say more without spoiling the first book for anyone that hasnt read it.
Enjoy and please let me know what you think. This is way off topic for the main page so thought I'd share with you guys over here.
At least we have this to read until the HP movies come out in the future...
Have a good one

***UPDATE***

According to the woman herself, J.K. Rowling says that facsimile copies of this prequel will be available in August with the proceeds going to charity.  It contains the story of the Marauders and takes place approximately two years before Harry was born.  Sounds great!!

Pam - so glad you enjoyed your special day!  From what I understand, it's not really a book.  It's a very brief (eight pages or something like that) prequel to the first book that will be auctioned off for charity.  I doubt it will be available to the general public...or if it is, it may be like "Quidditch through the ages" and "Magical Creatures" that will be eventually available to purchase with the proceeds going to charity.  But I wouldn't hold my breath.  I don't think we will be able to see it anytime soon.

Did anyone hear as I did tonight on TV that JK Rowling has another book coming out in August that is a prequel to the Harry Potter Series?? I hope  she makes it a good one and Professor Snape plays a large role in it.
Off to bed (yawn) need to get rested for work in the morning. Nighty nite all

I got the sweeney todd DVD for my Birthday and thanks to you guys, know how to watch it! (LOL) I'll hide my eyes in a few parts and try to keep them open for AR.
Seeing as today is my birthday, I plan on watching it later after going out to dinner with the family.
Take care all and be good.

I am new to this site, but not to being a fan of Alan Rickman.  I first fell under his spell as Hans in Die Hard.  He may have been a bad guy, but what a sexy one he was!!  My favorite, however, is his Brandon in Sense and Sensibility.  He is incredibly handsome and sexy and his character is the utmost as a British gentleman.  Also, that VOICE!  He could walk into a room with 20 screaming babies and speak and it would be quiet in 60 seconds.  He has the most calming and gentle voice I have ever heard.  AND for us grown women, the sexiest voice of all time.

I think after everyone leaves on Sunday, I'll prop my feet up and watch Sweeney Todd.

Hey, Alfan!!  Well, technically, the calendar says that my busy season should be over....but I seem to still be up to my eyeballs with work.

Would you believe I've had these DVD's for a week now and I've only managed to watch the first two segments of the "extras" disc!  I haven't watched either of the films yet....I just can't seem to grab enough free time.  I did see S.T. in the theater, but I haven't watched MBJ yet.  *sigh*  I know I'll eventually get to it.

So......WHERE IS EVERYBODY???   It's been awfully quiet here.  You guys make a lurker very lonely.

Hope to see people back on here soon. Miss the chi-chat and little drawings.

Pam, maybe you could pour the mix into a 9x13 cake pan or a cookie sheet with edges (I think those are technically jelly roll pans) and just make bar cookies?  You could drizzle icing over them and cut them on the diagonal to make diamond shaped bars.

Great.  Now I'm getting hungry.

Hi guys and Happy New Year again!

Dumpy, I love Tigger. He is so cool and really enjoyed watching the Pooh series when my son was little. This coming week the weather is finally going UP!! WOO-HOO

It is supposed to be in the 40's and 50's, thank goodness, after below zero wind chills last thursday/friday when the temp hardly got to 20 degrees,brrr..

If you guys got the new HP movie for Christmas (order of the Phoenix) you dont need to install the second disc in the PC it works just fine on the DVD. When you read it, it looks like it has to be but it played fine in the DVD and we got to see everything including a behind the scenes tour with Tonks.  She is a riot, no wonder they chose her for the role. It also has many extras with Alan and worth viewing.

Well off to get things in order for tomorrow for school/work. Have a nice week all and again Happy New Year and all the best for this wonderful new year of 2008.
